Families like Tania’s need your urgent help in WA
Like many people struggling just to get by through the cost-of-living crisis, Tania* understands the extra financial pressure Christmas can bring.
Please will you give $72 now which can help provide Christmas hampers for families like Tania’s so there’s food on the table this Christmas.
Mum to a teenage son and twin girls aged eight, Tania grew up in a disadvantaged and abusive household. She vowed that her children would never face similar struggles.
But after escaping an abusive relationship and diagnosed with mental health challenges, Tania was struggling to survive. She was unable to work due to her declining mental health and on the brink of homelessness.
“I’d never have thought that I was someone who would need to ask for help,” Tania said. “But I know if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Tania has made great strides rebuilding her family’s life. But the cost-of-living crisis means their life is full of impossible choices. Food or rent? Essential medicines or bills?
Will you make an urgent gift of $127 so people don’t have to go without essential medicines or healthcare?
The Problem
A staggering 3.3 million people in Australia, including 761,000 children, are living in poverty.1
After three years of a deepening cost-of-living crisis, vulnerable people are beyond breaking point.
Driven deeper into poverty, more and more people urgently need a helping hand just to get by each day.
The rising cost of food, electricity, petrol, rent, healthcare and other life essentials are impacting an unprecedented number of households across Australia.
Many people requesting assistance from Vinnies have never had to ask for help before, while many others now depend on ongoing support just to keep their heads above water.
Your urgent and generous donation can help provide immediate practical assistance and ongoing support for vulnerable people and families like Tania’s. It’s not just for Christmas, it’s for a brighter future.

Your Impact in WA
Christmas can be a challenging time for many. But for people struggling just to get by each day, sharing the joy of Christmas can be impossible. For many, there’ll be no lights on the tree because their electricity has been disconnected. There’ll be no special meals because there’s rarely enough on the table. And no presents because the rent is overdue.
This Christmas, your urgent gift can help give people the break they need with practical assistance to get through this ongoing crisis and connect to ongoing, wrap-around support to get back on their feet.
Please join our caring community of local volunteer members and supporters to assist people in desperate need this Christmas. Your generous and urgent gift of $72 or more can help provide:
- Assistance with emergency accommodation and sustainable housing.
- A helping hand with soaring household bills and expenses
- Clothing and household goods for families in need
- Food hampers and vouchers for people going hungry
- Ongoing support to help people get back on their feet
