Vulnerable people who have nowhere else to turn need your help to overcome the impacts of homelessness and poverty.
Please support the Vinnies Winters Appeal

A place to call home
When it’s no longer safe to stay at home or people are at risk of homelessness, your donation can help them find a safe and secure place to stay.

Urgent assistance for people in crisis
Your gift can help people struggling just to get by with food hampers and clothing or provide a helping hand with essential bills.

Ongoing support for a brighter future
Your kindness can help connect people to the ongoing support and services they need to rebuild their lives and break the cycle of homelessness.
All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
Homelessness is never a choice
Young sisters Abigail and Isabella* have never known a stable, safe and loving home. All they have known is a life of instability, neglect and abuse. A life of constant moves, and periods of homelessness, including times living in a cold and crowded caravan or their mother’s car.
As children, they had no choice in their situation and no one to turn to. Now, as young adults, they finally have the chance to break free from the impacts of homelessness to create a stable and caring home of their own. With your help and support, they can look forward to a brighter future that’s full of possibility they could never imagine before.
Australia is facing a homelessness crisis
This winter, Vinnies volunteer members across Australia are seeing an unprecedented demand for homelessness services and support.
Your generous support can help vulnerable people in our communities at risk of or experiencing homelessness with the urgent help they need to break free from the cycle of homelessness.
You can help give them food so they are not going hungry and clothes so they are not cold. A helping hand with essential bills or even the rent could be all that’s standing between people and homelessness.
Sadly, domestic and family violence is one of the key drivers of homelessness. You can help ensure that people who are no longer safe at home have someone to turn to.
You can help them find safety and support.
“Help from Vinnies has pretty much kick-started our lives. Without your help, we would literally have nothing. We’d be homeless again and probably on the street.” - Abigail*
The impacts of homelessness can be long-lasting
Homelessness – or even living with the constant risk of homelessness – can have a lasting and insidious impact on people’s lives.
Homelessness can expose people to violence, victimisation and poor nutrition. And people who have experienced homelessness are more likely to report having a mental health?condition or a long-term health condition.
These impacts can affect people’s future prospects in education, gaining and maintaining employment, and connecting with their community.
Your support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal can help vulnerable people access ongoing programs and resources that can help provide the tools and the support they need to thrive long-term. Together we can break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
* Many people coming to Vinnies have never had to ask for help before and are embarrassed that they need to. That’s why we change people’s names and details – to protect their identity and uphold their dignity.
*Funds raised through the Vinnies Winter Appeal will be used to fund our core programs including supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and also people struggling with poverty and cost-of-living pressures.
