Meet Jason
Jason is a dedicated father of two teenagers whose life took an unexpected turn when he stopped working to become a full-time caregiver for his seriously ill wife. Jason's son, is autistic and relies heavily on him, adding another layer of responsibility. Despite these challenges, Jason skilfully navigated their tight budget, ensuring they could get by. However, as the cost of living began to soar, it threw his careful planning into turmoil, as Jason shares.

“Before this time, we were pretty much living hand to mouth, from one week to the next. So, when the cost of everything started going up, we had no buffer. I just had to do whatever I could to make sure my kids had something to eat. As a parent, that’s your first priority.”
Facing the threat of hunger, Jason knew he had to do something. Desperate to keep his family afloat, he turned to Vinnies for help. That's when he met support worker, Sandra, who stepped in with compassion and urgency. Jason was provided with supermarket vouchers, food hampers, and even clothing. But the support didn’t stop there—Vinnies also helped with utility bill assistance and the cost of vital medications, giving Jason's family the lifeline they desperately needed.
Jason is extremely grateful to Vinnies and feels it is a place he can reach out to without feeling any judgement. He says the team always make him feel welcome, and comfortable and not embarrassed to ask for assistance.
