Steve has a serious lung condition that will shorten his life and he’s the only person to look after Sarah, his daughter.
Steve constantly worries about Sarah and adopted some unhealthy ways to help him manage his anxiety and depression. It wasn't long before they had nowhere to live and were couch-surfing. "Things went haywire; it came to the point where I had to abandon the house, we went to the streets". As Steve could not provide a safe and stable home for Sarah, she was removed from his care. Steve was heartbroken. He knew something had to change. "I couldn't have my daughter until I got a place of my own". That's when Vinnies became an integral part of Steve's story.
Steve was given the opportunity to transform his circumstances and get his daughter back. By having a safe place to call home and wrap-around services, Steve could focus on his health, well-being and provide the stable home needed for his daughter to thrive. With support from Vinnies, Steve's perseverance paid off when he was reunited with Sarah.
