People like Melissa are in crisis.
Melissa and her daughter Sophie were forced to leave an abusive relationship with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Her partner then cut access to their funds, and they were thrown into homelessness. At first, they were living in their car then temporary emergency accommodation where Melissa tried looking for a rental property without success.
With a deadline to move out of the temporary lodging looming, they reached out to Vinnies. We were able to accommodate them in one of our hostels where they were provided with safe shelter, warm beds, nutritious meals and other support to navigate a complex system. We were able to accommodate them in one of our hostels.
After more than 200 applications, they were able to secure a granny flat and the team at Vinnies assisted them with the move. Now in their new home, they are looking forward to their future with renewed hope.
