Anna* was struggling to afford the basics of survival

After fleeing domestic violence, Anna was left to provide for her two children on her own.

The cost-of-living crisis made a tough situation even more desperate and left her struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, St Vincent de Paul Society QLD (Vinnies QLD) was there to provide food, warm clothing, emergency bill relief and all the things Anna needed to get her life back on track. You even helped make sure Anna and her children could enjoy a special meal together on Christmas Day.

With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to build, more and more Queenslanders like Anna are reaching out to Vinnies QLD for support. Please donate today to help provide them with dignity, hope and a helping hand.

Since retiring a few years back, Paul and Paula have kept themselves busy volunteering with Vinnies QLD in their community in Ipswich.

In that time, they have seen the need for support grow rapidly, with rising rents and prices pushing already disadvantaged people into the most desperate situations.

“We hear from people sleeping in their cars,” says Paul. “It’s all they’ve got, and they still need to pay for food and get around.”

Your compassionate support is vital to helping Vinnies volunteer members like Paul and Paula provide urgently needed assistance in their communities. Will you please donate today?

“We should be the hands and feet of the church, helping people and doing what we can to show Christ’s love in our community.” Paul

The last couple of years have seen Queensland rocked by one natural disaster after another.

Unprecedented bushfires, cyclones and floods destroyed homes and livelihoods, and left families across our state in desperate need.

In response to the devastating 2022 floods, you and other compassionate supporters raised $3.5 million to help Queenslanders rebuild their homes and lives.

When bushfires hit the Western Downs region, the caring Vinnies QLD community raised $380,000 to support long-term recovery in affected areas. And $432,000 was raised by wonderful Vinnies QLD supporters like you in response to last year’s ex-tropical Cyclone Jasper.

You are the lifeline for these families – and the hope and support they need to rebuild their lives.

All figures accurate as of 22/01/24. As a recovery agent, we focus on long-term recovery and typically spend 30% of funds raised within the first three months after the disaster occurs. Through our continuous work on the ground, the balance is spent over the following two years after the disaster event.
